Collins Tile & Stone

After another successful field trip around Lubbock, I have gained new insights into the tile and stone design industry after touring Collins Tile & Stone here in town.  We were very fortunate to have firsthand insights into the business and design aspects of tile and stone from touring with Mr. Collins himself.  Collins Tile & Stone, according to their website, “has emerged as the superior tile and stone company for Lubbock and the Greater South Plains.” We were able to interact with their showroom that offered a variety of textiles of stone and tile arranged in sections of a prototypical kitchen. In addition we were able to see their stone quarry and the process the stones go through to become beautiful pieces of counter in residential and commercial atmospheres.
Tile wise, they offer a wide range of shapes, styles, colors, textures, finishes, etc. to be used in kitchen, bathrooms, or wherever desired.  Currently, the company does not install tile flooring residential but they are fully qualified and capable of installing floors in commercial projects.  Even with the lack of residential flooring jobs, they are still the leading tile floor installation contractor in the area.
In their stone department, they have their own stone quarry with a variety of slabs that customers are able to pick from firsthand.  After being selected the company is able to fabricate the stone into cut and polished pieces that are precise and to the specifications of any design possible.  As part of our tour, we went into the fabrication warehouse and witnessed marble slabs being cut by extremely powerful and large machines that were then sent to a second machine where they received the necessary edges to complete the counter.
The experience of touring Collins Tile & Stone was extremely beneficial and a great learning experience.  Now when I have my own customers that I am working on jobs for, I can easily help communicate with them and those in the tile and stone industry, to get the best quality and finish necessary to complete a job.
