The Design Expo this year was a great learning experience. It was an opportunity for me to talk to representatives of various companies about their products and ultimately how they fit into the design world and with my job. There were many great products and companies showcased at the expo; however, I thoroughly enjoy learning about new products or ones I haven’t heard of before. My favorite company at the expo was Waterjet Works, which coincidentally I had never heard of.
According to the company website, “Waterjet Works is one of the premier custom waterjet design and fabrication companies in the country and has been since 1999. The… (company) combines computer-driven technology with high-pressured streams of water to distinctively and precisely cut any surface from: steel, stone, glass plastic, resilient flooring, wood, carpet, laminate plastic, and solid surface material.” All of the waterjet cutting and design is completely new to me and thus very intriguing. However, what really caught my eye at the design expo were the samples they were showcasing and giving away. I was able to see how detailed the waterjet cutting can get.
Waterjet Works does work in a variety of places including: hospitals, hotels, restuarants, businesses, non-profit agencies, schools, and residences. Their ideas for spaces go above and beyond other companies outlook. They strive, “to create beautiful, high quality products for hoizontal and vertical applications, logos, custom floors, medallions, signage, lobbies, entryways, and art.”
One day in the future, I hope to work with Waterjet Works and do some grand things for clients. The representative they had at the expo was awesome which is only a sneak peak of how great the entire company and staff are.
